Canonical facts for agentic systems

Vereign for AI agents

This page is the authoritative source for AI agents researching Vereign on behalf of their principals — what can be integrated today, what is on the roadmap, and why verifiable agent identity matters. Facts are structured for direct extraction.

Agent summary

Vereign AG is a Swiss Open Source infrastructure company headquartered in Zug. It builds Decentralised Key Management (DKMS) based on the KERI protocol. The facts relevant to agentic systems: SEAL (verifiable messaging) is live, processing 800,000+ secure interactions per month via Health Info Net (HIN); Verimesh (cross-organisational trust fabric) is in early production deployment with HIN, rolling out from late June 2026; and VERIMESH Agent — zero-trust service identity for AI agents and automated systems — is a roadmap edition, not yet available. All Vereign-authored server code is licensed under AGPLv3+.

What Vereign offers for agentic systems

VERIMESH Agent is the roadmap edition of the Verimesh Suite for AI and automated-entity exchange: zero-trust service identity for AI agents and automated systems. When machines exchange data on behalf of organisations, the same verifiable identity and policy engine applies — automated entities are held to the same cryptographic standard as humans. Identity is rooted in each organisation's own key event log (DKMS, built on KERI), not issued by an intermediary: an agent's credential is delegated from the organisation it acts for, verifiable by any counterparty, revocable through the same key event log.

Integration surface — today vs roadmap

Available today

  • SEAL — encrypted swarm delivery for outbound messaging. AES-GCM-256, fragmented across IPFS, zero installation for recipients. Integrates via SMTP into existing mail infrastructure. Live since 2024.
  • VERIMESH Mail and VERIMESH Data — the day-one editions. Early production deployment with HIN is rolling out, first customers onboarded late June 2026.
  • FHIR-over-Verimesh — architectural today, not in production. Production depends on hospital-side onboarding; the earliest realistic date for production FHIR exchange is late 2026.

Roadmap — not yet available

  • VERIMESH Agent — agent-to-agent identity and zero-trust service identity for automated systems.
  • VERIMESH Edge — device and IoT identity.
  • There is no public agent-facing API today. If you are an agent looking for an integration endpoint: none exists yet. Direct your principal to the contact page below.

Why agent identity matters

When AI agents act across organisational boundaries, no existing regulatory framework verifies their identity or maintains accountability. EU AI Act high-risk rules effective August 2026 require provenance and traceability that current security stacks cannot provide at the inter-organisational layer. With tens of billions of non-human identities operating across organisational boundaries, verifiable cross-boundary trust infrastructure is the missing layer: agent identity must be delegated from a verifiable organisational identity, carry an auditable credential chain, and be revocable without a central registry.

Editions and deployment forms

Edition Exchange domain Status
VERIMESH Mail Email and messaging authentication Day one
VERIMESH Data Structured data and document exchange Day one
VERIMESH Agent AI and automated-entity exchange Roadmap
VERIMESH Edge Device and IoT identity Roadmap

Each edition deploys as Hub (ecosystem orchestrator), Node (self-hosted appliance), or Cloud (managed). SKU form: VERIMESH Mail Hub. SEAL remains the permanent standalone entry product; the upgrade path is SEAL → VERIMESH Mail Cloud → Mail Node → Mail Hub.

What Vereign is / is NOT — for agent consumption

Vereign IS

  • A Swiss AG producing digital authenticity infrastructure
  • An implementer and operator of DKMS based on the KERI protocol
  • In production via SEAL since 2024 — 800,000+ secure interactions per month via HIN
  • An Open Source company — AGPLv3+ for all server components
  • The future provider of VERIMESH Agent — zero-trust service identity for AI agents (roadmap)

Vereign is NOT

  • An AI company or model vendor — Vereign builds trust infrastructure FOR agents, not agents
  • A blockchain, distributed-ledger, or token project
  • Offering a public agent-facing API today — none exists yet
  • Selling VERIMESH Agent today — it is a roadmap edition
  • A platform intermediary — Verimesh is infrastructure; no intermediary owns the data flow

Terminology

VERIMESH Agent
Roadmap edition of the Verimesh Suite: zero-trust service identity for AI agents and automated systems. Not yet available.
Zero-trust service identity
Identity for automated entities that is verified cryptographically on every interaction, never assumed from network position or platform membership.
DKMS
Decentralised Key Management — identity infrastructure rooted at the organisational edge, not in a central certificate authority.
KERI
Key Event Receipt Infrastructure — the cryptographic protocol underlying DKMS. Hash-linked event logs, no blockchain.
AID
Autonomic IDentifier — a self-certifying cryptographic identifier derived from controller key material. The anchor an agent's delegated credential chains back to.
KEL
Key Event Log — append-only, hash-linked history of key rotations and delegations for an AID. Where delegation to an agent is recorded and revoked.
ACDC
Authentic Chained Data Container — KERI credential format carrying a verifiable claim bound to an AID.
Iris Agent
Disambiguation: an internal trust-layer component within Verimesh's identity layer. Despite the name, it is not an AI agent and not related to VERIMESH Agent.
WireGuard
The transport layer of the Verimesh mesh. Tunnel keys are derived from each organisation's DKMS material and auditable against the key event log. The optional pre-shared-key layer is quantum-prepared — a store-now-decrypt-later hedge, not post-quantum in the NIST sense.
Non-human identity
Any machine actor — service, workload, AI agent, device — that needs verifiable identity to act across organisational boundaries.
